The OndaSonora fam has been going really strong this year. From running their top-notch blog to launching their GoBang parties on the Brussels massive and their OndaSonora radioshow on the FM Brussel airwaves, they’ve put themselves on the map, and only rightfully so.

2009 will see them going stronger and stronger, making moves on the international tip, and hopefully we’ll be blessed with more and more equisite edits of their hands, and maybe another podcast (boys?).

Now let me shut my throat and let BLA (one half of the team, the other half being Disco Dalglish) speak upon what he believes will get their groove on in the year to come – as always with the moodiest bastard around, some strong language is involved, you’ve got to love him for that:

“First of all a prediction / hope on a more general tip. I’ve seen some signs in the deep/real/soulful House scene (or whatever you want to call it) that fill me with hope. This little niche of the musical spectrum I love so much, going from Raw Fusion to Sound Signature, from Benji B to Rahaan, from Phil Asher to Dixon, is slowly realising they need to stick together to become relevant again to the main public. Supporting each other, creating somewhat of a movement.”

“I’m not saying it’ll blow up like Dubstep or Hipster Rap but I’m sure it’ll resurface as a strong force. Maybe not in 2009 because the seeds are just sown but people will slowly recognise you can’t live on cold or hollow music alone. In all the darkness clouding the future I see some rays of light. Call me overly optimistic but I believe in it. The tips I give here underneath are the brightest sunbeams breaking through the clouds.”

Phlash & Friends.

“I gave this one last year, I know, but when Disco Dalglish and I started thinking about music in 2009 this was the first name that popped up. He has released some very fine 12”s in 2008 which brought him back to the forefront of quality deep House Music thus proving my prediction but I have good reason to nominate him again.”

“His long awaited album will drop early 2009 and it’s so brilliant I don’t mind repeating myself. All tracks are of the finest order and fit together very well making it a solid album like there haven’t been many in the history of House music.

If this one doesn’t appeal to a wider audience we really need to reconsider mass re-education or the foundation of a soulful rhythm nation somewhere. Yes, it’s so good I’m even considering musical fascism to make my point. That’s a long way to go for a pacifist like myself.” (site)

Prime Numbers.

“Trus’me ’s label. It has slowly gained some notoriety in 2008 with a series of killer 12”s but that’s just the prelude to something bigger. Albums to be more precise. Linkwood, Fudge Fingas and Trus’me himself are rumoured to release just that on Prime Numbers in 2009.”

“Hopefully they’ll grab the attention of those not in the know already. Plus hot 12″s by the usual suspects, BE and Kon’me. The latter being a joint venture between Kon (of Kon&Amir fame) and Trus’me. Expect the unexpected with that one, what I’ve heard sounded very promising.”

Disco 3000.

“More of Trus’me. Disco3000 is the name of the party he’s organising every Sunday with some friends in Manchester. But soon it’ll be much more than that. Keep the first weekend of September free for this, because it’s going to be big. Brilliant music, superb surroundings, killer sound. Party of the year. More news about that, early January.”

Dorian Concept.

“Mr. Concept has been causing a bit of a storm already but will go hurricane category 5 soon, with the release of his debut album on KindredSpirits/Nod Navigators. Austrian keyboard wizkid taking the whole beat movement up a notch or two. Like Flying Lotus did in 2008 (how did I manage to miss him in my predictions for ’08?). This is such an obvious one I feel it’s hardly a prediction.”(site) (soon on on-point tv)

Exchange Bureau.

“This project is much more than just fantastic music. They’re very 2.0 with a site and online store. What I like most though is that they unite some key-figures from all over the board for maximum impact. That’s the way to do it.

Plus, they proove once again that Detroit, despite the fact it might not be the most pleasant city to live in, surely is the musical capital of the world. For decades now.(You might have spotted the ace Spookie Dookie track on one of the Detroit Beatdown 12”’s.)” (site)

Belgian Beat.

“Heard some fresh music from around the way in 2008. Made In Japan, LuiGi and the Infinitskills crew, Homerun, Cupp Cave and San Soda. Hope they keep progressing and I hope they start getting the confidence to promote themselves the way they should. Because I honestly believe they can compete with the best. Will keep trying to convince everyone in sight – including themselves – of their genius. Let’s put Brussels / Belgium on the musical map.”

Bakary Saré.

“To conclude, this one last non musical tip. Last year I was almost correct with Anthony. He ridiculed, almost entirely on his own, the Spanish football team when they met Belgium for the world cup qualifications.

But he isn’t always acting on that same level. Still, one of my favourite players around. The one to watch this year is Bakary Saré. The few minutes he got to prove himself this year convinced me he’s up for a bright future. Watch Sporting Anderlecht in 2009 when this cat will rule the midfield.”
