Needless to say the internet is crazy for creating a buzz every now and then. But at the same time it is quite freaky to see how quickly things spread, and how sometimes third parties benefit from the hard work of others…
Rappcats.com posted this story about how StonesThrow Records teamed up with Mitsubishi for the development of a Quasimoto robot:
“…robotic Quasimoto, currently in development, was unveiled today at a tech conference in Zurich. Quasibot will be available in Japan in 2010, and possibly ready for world tour by Spring 2011.”
No facts are given to be checked even, so that should ring a bill to those who want to dig deeper into the story, don’t you think?
Now, let’s give credit where it is due, shining light on professor Bram Vanderborght of the University of Brussels, and the Brussels government. A mere 240.000 euro was spent on the development of Probo, which is a robot designed to keep hospitalised children company. Look on the right side and you’ll see it’s frontpage material.
You can still call it Quasibot if you wish, but I wouldn’t make Mitsubishi look good with it. Not unless they give me one crazy motor, I wouldn’t.
More robotpictures after the jump:
Now let’s enjoy Lord Quas one more time:
