Filmmaker Didier Verbeek sorted it out and planted his camera in the kitchen of the Andromeda, one of the many sex bars along the road from Luik to Sint-Truiden. Gaily chattering, the girls count the 50-euro notes between different customers and talk with Ghislain, the sluggish landlord.
The girls are free, they come and go whenever they want. He treats them with respect, listens to their worries and comforts them when necessary. And when Ghislain is sick, the girls take care of him by turns.
Au Bordel ce Soir presents a rare image of window prostitutes: self-assured women to whom sex is a commodity like any other. Of course they are all dreaming of what they will do with their savings in the future, but in the meantime they go to work every night without complaining.
