01. “Late in the Evening” ft. Baadasssss
…is a song about lust. Nothing more, nothing less than that thing called horniness. The repeating chorus “Can’t say I love you, can’t say I don’t… you’re just one of the things that I want.” says it all, doesn’t it? The beat was originally an interlude made by my friend Baadasssss, which I was kinda nuts about, so when he sent it to me, I had to lay my korgsounds, keys, vocoder, additional drums (recorded in my garage) and vocals all over it.
+ “Funkin’ That Ship”
…is my first tryout on drums. I had bought a drumset and set it up in the garage, back in my house in Roeselare, where my girlfriend Mira just hang the laundry out all over the place. So the garage was pretty packed, and it sounded OK to drum over there. So I decided to have a little jamsession with myself on drums, keys, scratches, vocoder, and microphone. Heheh.
02. “Nono”
…was basically a microphone check that turned out to be a catchy tune for an interlude. That day, I’d gotten a brilliant vintage bulletmicrophone from my friend Alex D, as a present. All I wanted to find out was how that thing sounded like. Sharp and metallic was the deal, so I took my oldschool wakeup clock as a metronome, and off I went into another zone!
03. Night Till Daylight
…was the first song I ever made on the microkorg. Started out as a catchy synth-riff, later on I added lyrics and some tambourine on it. Clap yo hands!! Hahaha… this song is about me working on my music in the nightly vibe (sometimes till the early morning), and being dedicated. Also, it’s about having fun and partying with friends from night till daylight. Of course.
Big thank you to Jazz Neversleeps for the cover design!
